Issues installing the "mantra" application (or other application packages)
(Updated for the changes to ax/software for 0.5.6)
The mantra app's installer will occasionally be finicky and refuse to install properly. This is usually a combination of the package manager not being able to "attach" the installer properly to the system and the installer not unpacking its contents properly.

To resolve this for mantra:

Ensure you are in Eisa, as installs from the ax system require you to be in-region for ax to deliver the software to you. Also ensure that you have 2-3 free attachment points, as the installer will require at least one to perform the installation and may need additional points for temporary attachments.

  1. Make sure your ax repository information is up-to-date: @software update

  2. Download the latest mantra package archive (1.0.1 as of this writing): @software download mantra-1.0.1.ax.parc

  3. Restart the package manager: @reset parc

  4. Attach the downloaded mantra package: @parc open mantra-1.0.1.ax.parc

  5. Force the package manager to attach the package archive: @parc sideload mantra-1.0.1.ax.parc

  6. At this point, the package SHOULD auto-install its contents. If it does not, right-click the installer window on your HUD, select Edit, look at the Contents tab, and enter this command for each file apart from the parc script: @parc extract <file> (example: @pkg extract mantra.info)

  7. Once all files have been extracted, you can click the X or use this command to close the package archive: @parc close mantra-1.0.1.ax.parc

These steps can be utilized for any application package that is downloaded from the ax servers, but SHOULD NOT be used to try and install an ARES update package! These are much more complex and need things to go in specific places and these steps WILL NOT work with them!
