DrainProtect has been part of the operating system since before version 8.0.0, but rarely (if ever) has anyone had a reason to turn it off. Vampirism mode would change that, using Companion 8.4's new foreign device authorization procedure to allow units with a dedicated application to request and extract power from any NS unit, similar to the vampirism systems popularized by Bloodlines, but without any of the mess.
