It's very immersion-breaking to try roleplaying a power outage when all the lights, chargers, and other appliances aboard your space station are obviously still working. The power grid would take the same wattage management strategy used in our controllers and apply it to a whole sim, requiring a huge number of updates to our existing rezzable objects to synergize fully. Entire settlements would be battery-powered, using solar panels, fuel reactors, and other applicable sources to refill reserves, potentially creating opportunities for resource-gathering gameplay similar to survival sandbox games like Minecraft or Rust. Chargers, display cases, light fixtures, doors, and even domain and update servers could all be dependent on the local power system in order to function. Many components would be ATOS-enabled, too, allowing sabotage and terrorist attacks to potentially cripple the power system.
